Sophisticated property managers know how important it is, to maintain a clean, safe and attractive building. A critical part of property maintenance (and one that's often overlooked) is rubbish chute cleaning. A rubbish chute is something tenants interact with on a regular basis. You do not want that interaction to be an unpleasant experience. Citywide Cleaning provides periodic rubbish chute cleaning services to owners and managers of high and mid-rise properties. Most chute cleanings are performed every 90 or 180 days. The service is scheduled in advance with the on-site managers to avoid any inconvenience for employees or tenants. The specific services included in all chute cleanings are: • Power-wash all chutes with our custom designed machine • Power-wash all rubbish discharge rooms • Deodorize and disinfect the rubbish chutes • Deodorize all waste containers • Clean, oil, adjust and (if necessary) repair all chute doors |
Hazards of Dirty Chutes:
If neglected, rubbish chutes can also create serious problems for the building, such as grease fires, an out-of-control pest population, rancid food odors and excessive wear and tear on the compactor and chute. Still, some buildings may experience only an occasional rodent or a foul odor near the chutes.
Garbage chutes need to be cleaned annually, basic chute cleaning consists of a chemical wash to soften the build-up and a pressure wash to release it from the walls. This is followed by cleaning and degreasing of the hopper doors on each floor; deodorizing of the chute walls; an enzyme treatment; and washing and deodorizing of the compactor. Citywide Cleaning staff are trained and fully equipped, skilled and experienced in the cleaning, decontamination, disinfection of garbage chutes.
